Roy S. Loveday, age 76, born October 25, 1944, passed away February 11, 2021. Graduate of Central High School. He was a Navy Seal Veteran who fought in Vietnam. Retired from Norfolk Railroad, and spent time as a Free Mason. He taught Isshin-Ryu Karate for over 40 years, and was a 7th Degree Blackbelt. Some know him as Sensei Roy Loveday, as he started learning karate in the 70’s, and started his own dojo in the early 90’s. He also studied Shinto-Ryu, Tai Chi, and wrote and published an Isshin-Ryu training manual. He enjoyed building old ’55 Chevys, scuba diving, and was a master driver. Preceded in death by his parents Roy and Iva Loveday. He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Louise, daughter Denyse, grandchildren Caleb and Tia, sister Sondra Reagan, and special friends; Carl McCarter, Frank Brock, and John Tolliver. Family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 PM Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with a service to follow at 7:00 PM, Rev. Mark Large, Rev. Danny Scates, and Daniel Beason officiating. Family and friends will meet at 12:15 PM for a 12:30 PM interment on Monday, February 22, 2021 at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Highway.
