Roy Lee Mcelroy

March 13, 1920 — April 26, 2017

Roy Lee McElroy, 97 of Knoxville went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, April 26, 2017. Roy was a member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church. He was a United States Army Veteran who served during WWII. He was a member of The Shriners of North America. He retired from the railroad. Roy will be remembered as a loving husband of 74 years, a father, grandfather and friend who had a big heart and was always helping others. We are so comforted knowing that Roy is now with his mother who he loved dearly and spoke of often. Roy is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. He is survived by his loving wife, Imogene McElroy; daughter, Barbara Dollar; son, William (Monika) McElroy; grandchildren, Angie, Jeff, Scott and Candy. Additional survivors include six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at their convenience on Sunday at Mynatt’s Funeral Home, 2829 Rennoc Road in Fountain City. A graveside service is scheduled for Monday, May 1, 2017, 2 pm in The Woodhaven Cemetery.
