Roy H. “Red” Dixon, age 84, took his Heavenly flight into the arms of Jesus, September 22, 2013, surrounded by his loving family and friends at home. He was a loving and caring man who was good to all. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. Roy was a member of Sonlight Baptist Church and a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Coleridge. He is preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Bessie Dixon and several siblings. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years and caregiver, Betty Dixon, sister, Frieda Dixon, daughter and son in law, Susan and Jim Nipper, grandchildren and spouses, Melissa and Darrell Chapman, Sabrina Holbert and De Rauhuff, Jaime Geames, Ralph Geames, Tammy and Don Early, Melissa Nelson, great grandchildren, Kiera and Dustin Holbert, Alyssa and Jonathan Moore, Taylor Chapman, Nathan and Adam Geames, Kennedi McNeal, and Justin Miller, great great grandson, Braydon Morrison, special niece, Carolyn Washam, several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to UT Hospice for their wonderful and loving care, especially to Susan McCarter, Tish Muncey, Frances Williams and Ann Knighton. Service, 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Mynatt Funeral Home Chapel, Fountain City, Rev. Eddie Myers officiating. Family and friends will meet, 10:45 a.m., Thursday, Greenwood Cemetery for entombment at 11:00 a.m. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers, honorary pallbearers will be ushers from Sonlight Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City.
