Roy Gene Manis, 88, of Halls, Tennessee, died March 7, 2015, in Andersonville, TN. The son of Lonnie (Pete) and Lily Manis, he was born on January 27, 1927, in Middlesboro, KY. His wife, Media Wilburn Manis, preceded him in death.
Mr. Manis was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and worked in the mining industry for over forty years. His wide variety of interests included restoring vintage cars, playing golf, and gardening. He was a member of the Lions Clubs of East Tennessee.
Surviving are his sons Michael G. Manis (Heidi), of Atlanta, GA, and Joseph P. Manis (Cathy), of Birmingham, AL, and daughter Susan R. Dabney (Donald), of Campbellsville, KY. Grandchildren are Christopher Manis of Roanoke, VA; Kelli Manis of Atlanta, GA; and Donald Dabney, Paige Dabney, and Peyton Dabney, all of Campbellsville, KY. Great-grandchildren are Lilly Cove and Colton Cove, both of Atlanta, GA.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 11 at 12 noon at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel, 4131 E. Emory Road, Knoxville, TN, with the Rev. Stephen Earle officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sumter Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
