Ronnie Hughes, age 73, went to be with Jesus on November 4, 2020. Preceded by parents Fred and Lela Hughes, and brother Charles Hughes. Survived by wife Robin Hughes, daughters Rhonda (David) McDaniel, Kim (Jeff) Cruse, Becky (David) Haynes, Cindy (Mike) Smith, Lisa (Billy) Mason, Nicole Sprague, nine grandchildren, and siblings Juanita White, Barbara Acuff, and Diane Ball, and best friend David Jones. Ronnie grew up in Halls and proudly served his country in the Army from 1966-1969. He later worked for several years at Steel Supply, and as a truck driver, then at Beaver Dam Baptist Church, and East Town Mall. He also served as youth and music minister at Black Oak Baptist and Branville Baptist. He was most recently a member at Texas Valley Baptist Church in Halls. He was a “gentle giant” loved by all who knew him for his ready smile, kindness, his sense of humor, and willingness to help. Hard working and skilled in fixing most anything, he was always building something, or helping someone with a house project or a car problem. He loved bass fishing, volunteering for mission trips locally and abroad, and being on the chainsaw team with the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, where he would cut trees off houses and tell people about Jesus. Family will receive friends 2:00-4:00pm Saturday, November 7, 2020, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with service to follow at 4:00pm. Per Ronnie's request, graveside services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to Tennessee Southern Baptist Disaster Relief or Texas Valley Baptist Church Samaritan’s Purse Shoebox Fund.
