Ronald Scott Wells, age 84 of Knoxville, TN went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 17, 2022, at Tennova Medical Center-West. Ron was born on July 4, 1937, to Rev. William Claude and Trula Wells.
He was a lifelong member of Sharon Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and on various committees. Ron served in the United States Air Force and retired from the Tennessee Air National Guard in September 1993 as a Senior Master Sergeant. Ron also worked for the Knox County Sheriff’s Department for 25 years until he retired in 2019. Ron was a devoted husband and loved his children and grandchildren dearly. He was a devoted Christian that served the Lord by caring for his fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Ron had a servant heart and was always showing love and concern for others. He also had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh with his “dad jokes”.
Ron is preceded in death by his father and mother, Rev. William Claude and Trula Wells; brother, Eugene Wells; and sister and husband, Betty and Don Grissom.
Ron is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth C. Wells; daughter, Denise Thomason and husband Alan; son, Chip Wells and wife Stephanie; granddaughters, Hannah Cole and husband Colton, and Abigail Thomason; grandsons, Bennett Thomason and William Cade Wells; great-grandsons, Casen and Kellen Cole; brother, David Wells and wife Carolyn; sister, Dora Merle Love and husband Bill; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and coworkers.
Family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, February 21, 2022, from 5:00pm until time of funeral service at 7:00pm at Sharon Baptist Church with Dr. James Robertson and Rev. Mark McCoig officiating. Family and friends will meet on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery at 9:45am for a 10:00am graveside service. Family is encouraging masks to be worn. Pallbearers Bennett Thomason, Cade Wells, Colton Cole, Jeff Grissom, Darryl Grissom, Scott Wells and Aaron Love.
