Ronald Samuel Whitt

Ronald Samuel Whitt, “Lineball” to many, went to be with his heavenly father on Friday, June 10th, 2022, at the age of 83. Ronnie was born February 7th, 1939 to Carl Whitt and Francis Hoosier Whitt. He graduated from East High School in 1957 and went on to work at Levi’s for 25 years where he met his wife, Phyllis Cope Whitt, and also spent 30 years working for Briggs in Knoxville, TN. Following his retirement, he worked as a crossing guard for Chilhowee and West Haven Elementary schools prior to being diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2013. Ronnie had a passion for sports. He worked at Golden Gloves and had the chance to see “Big John Tate” in Africa. He coached and mentored his 3 sons and countless other children in baseball and t-ball. He also hardly missed a sports event for his children or grandchildren. As much as he loved sports, there is nothing that Ronnie valued more than his family. Ronnie was a phenomenal husband, father, brother, papaw and friend to all that had the pleasure of knowing him. He was wheelchair bound for the last 9 years of his life before being diagnosed with cancer, but he truly tried to live every day to its fullest and took every opportunity he had to spend time with his family. Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Francis Hoosier Whitt, and sister Carolyn Whitt Childress. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Phyllis Whitt, his brothers Steve Whitt and Tom Whitt (Jo), his four children, BJ Frye, Stephanie Alexander (Chris), Tony Whitt (Joy), Lance Whitt, his grandchildren, Cody Frye (Autumn), Chad Frye (Alex), Logan Alexander, Landon Alexander, his two great grandchildren, Beckham and Emma Frye, and countless other family members. His receiving of friends will be on Monday June 13th, 2022, at Mynatt Funeral Home on Rennoc Rd from 5:00-7:00 with a service to follow. Burial is scheduled for Tuesday, June 14th 2022 at 11:00 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Dandridge, TN. Flowers may be sent to 02829 Rennoc Rd, Knoxville, TN 37918.
