Ronald (Ron) M. Widner, age 73, died serving those in need in Powell, TN on Saturday, 19th day of August 2017. The cause of death was of natural causes and a big caring heart.
Born October 3, 1943 in Knoxville, TN, living in Halls Crossroads as a retired City of Knoxville Firefighter and Self-Employed Contractor. He was an honorably discharged TN Air National Guard Veteran and an accomplished hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman into his sixties. Ron was a long time beloved member of Olivet Baptist Church and The Lion of Judah -Temple Baptist Church in Knoxville.
Ron was preceded by his father Kyle F. and mother Edna J. Widner of Knoxville, TN.
Survivors include spouse Lagonda A. Widner in Halls Crossroads and mother Betty F. Widner Clinton, TN of his two sons Matthew W. Widner Oak Ridge, TN and Lance C. Widner, Ft Hunter Ligget, CA. and grandsons, Preston, John, Benjamin and Gabriel Widner.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 pm on the 23rd day of August 2017 at Temple Baptist Church, 2100 Woodrow Dr. Knoxville, TN 37918. Family and friends will meet at 1:45 pm on the 24th day of August 2017 for a 2:00 pm burial at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery located at 2200 E. Gov. John Sevier Hwy 168 Knoxville, TN 37920. Relatives and friends are welcome to the scheduled Memorial Service at Temple Baptist Church.
Memorial contributions are welcome in lieu of flowers to Temple Baptist Church in care of Tommy Tillman missionary serving the less fortunate.
