Ronald Duon McDonald (76) of Powell, TN having survived the streets of Memphis, the jungle of Vietnam, malaria, a bullet to the head, shrapnel from a grenade, exposure to agent orange, 3 heart attacks, a stroke, a dozen stents, 2 pacemakers, 2 wives, 3 children, 5 dogs and two grand children finally had enough and went home to be with his Lord and Savior. After proudly serving in the army with his trusty machine gun and being honorably discharged, he worked in radio before getting into sales. His love for music, conversation and Big Orange brought him to Knoxville, where he joined Smithwood Baptist Church and faithfully served for over twenty years. Before retiring he found himself in radio once again. This time playing country music, saying one liners and helping to produce a syndicated radio show. His love for music, family, friends and his church were as abundant as his likes and posts on Facebook. A father, a friend and a hero who will truly be missed.
Ron is survived by his wife Pamela, sons Brandon (Melissa) and Tanner (Samantha), daughter Amanda, grandchildren Taylor and Jackson, sister Francis (Roger), cousin Joe, mother-in-law Rachel and many special friends.
Please remember that Ron didn't get a new number, isn't stranded needing a wire transfer to get home and doesn't need to renew his car warranty. Thank you for being part of his life and for keeping his memory alive. God bless and Let's Go Brandon!
Services will be held on Saturday, Oct 26, 2024 from 5 to 7 P.M. at Smithwood Baptist Church. His final resting place as a decorated veteran will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
