Ronald Kent Sample

Ronald Kent Sample, age 65 of Powell, passed away on December 17, 2020. He was a member of Savannah Bay Baptist Church in Ootlewah, TN and was attending Anchor Holds Baptist Church in Knoxville. Ron was a loving and devoted husband, brother, and grandfather, who enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He was a gospel singer and songwriter with an accomplishment of 9 CD’s and loved to play the guitar and drums. Preceded in death by mother Barbara Thornton, father Wesley Sample, step-father Ray Thornton, and step-brother Timmy Thornton. Survived by wife of 19 years, Nancy Franklin Sample, son Joey Morrell (Perri), grandsons Noah and Jacob, sisters Kelly Thornton Snider (Michael) of Canton, IL and Gail Turner (Butch) of Adams, TN, several nieces and nephews, special friends Rhett Ouzts, Jim Hughes, Jerry Holmes, Kenny Perry, Rick Franklin, and several other special friends and family members. Family and friends will meet 11:45am Saturday, December 19, 2020, at Happy Valley Memorial Park in Johnson City, TN, for a 12:00pm graveside service.
