Roger A. Summers

December 17, 1939 — June 30, 2021

Roger A. Summers, age 81, of Powell, TN passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his family who were his caretakers until his death on June 30, 2021. Roger was a graduate of Horace Maynard High and retired from Plasti-Line, Inc. where he developed several lifelong friendships after nearly forty years of employment. As a Christian, he was a devoted member of Emory Valley Baptist Church where he also established numerous lifelong friendships, always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing at his member church and was often invited by other congregations as a visiting singer as well. Roger was preceded in death by his parents George "Carson" and Beulah Summers. He is survived by Phyllis Summers, his loving wife of sixty-one years, son Rodney and his daughter Sheryl (Shawn) Tindell, grandson Cory and granddaughter Cassie Tindell, brothers Edward (Helen) and Dan (Sue Ellen) Summers, sister Brenda Summers, and by many other extended family members and loved ones. The family will receive friends Friday, July 2, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel. Family and friends will meet Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery for an 11:00 am graveside service officiated by Reverend Doug Fielden and Reverend Richard Nicley. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that in his memory, donations or contributions be made either by paying it forward helping a family in need, or by adopting an abandoned pet when the time is appropriate. Condolences for the family may be shared at www.mynattfh.com.
