A Master Mechanic and loving father, son, brother and uncle, Rocky Lee Stinson passed on November 9, 2021. Rocky lived a full life and was endlessly supportive of those fortunate enough to know him. He passionately believed in personal independence yet his loyalty to family always kept him nearby. Rocky loved automobiles since he was a small child and pursued that love throughout his life. He did his best to mentor those learning the trade and was an overall awesome guy to be around. Rocky lived his best life outdoors and in garages. Whether that was riding a motorcycle, building trucks, shooting guns, tinkering with this or that, playing with his baby niece, or just coming up with creative ideas to help someone out. He was not one to sit still for too long. He will be deeply missed by those whose life he touched.
Rocky was born on September 27, 1968 in Jacksonville, North Carolina at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, although he spent most of his life living in Ohio where he graduated from Groveport Madison High School, before moving to Tennessee in 2010. Rocky is preceded in death by maternal and paternal grandparents, his father Ronald L. Stinson, and his stepfather Ray Terry who raised Rocky as his own. He is survived by his mother, Geraldine Terry (Mike), sisters; Kelly (Kenny) Holcomb and Donna Beck, brothers Joe (Becky) Stinson, Jason (Mayu) Terry, and David (Lori) Terry, and many nieces and nephews. Rocky is also survived by his children Randy (Jenna) Stinson and Haley Stinson, both of whom he was fiercely proud of and never missed a chance to let anyone know it.
While Rocky’s passing is taking a shining light from our lives, we can find comfort and peace in knowing that one day, we will see him again. Family will welcome visitors at Mynatt Funeral Home in Knoxville, Tennessee, located at 2829 Rennoc Road on November 14, 2021 from 10am-12pm and 2pm-3:30pm, with the service beginning at 3:30pm until 4pm. Rocky will be laid to rest in Ohio at Obetz Cemetery located at 4455 Groveport Road. There will be a funeral service at O.R. Woodyard Co.
