Robert “Tobe” Walters, 88, passed away Friday, May 4, 2018. He was a member and deacon of Inskip Baptist Church and a member of Bright Hope Lodge #57. He retired from Rohm and Haas after 30 years of service and was also a Master Barber. He enjoyed UT Football, baseball, and golf, but nothing brought him more happiness than his family.
Tobe was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Velma Walters, sisters Jewell and Edith, and brothers Sam and Bill.
He is survived by Mary, his wife of 67 years, Daughters; Judy(Rick) Buhl, Susan(Steve) Whitaker. Grandchildren; Amy(Blake), Michael(Penny), Alan(Amy),Dana(Marcus) and Michael(Andrea). Great-Grandchildren; Hunter, Seth, Sydny, Matthew, and Leah. Sisters; Aileen Underwood, Veta Ingle, and Pat(Lonnie) Lunsford.
We would like to thank family, friends, and co-workers for their love and support during Tobe’s illness. Thank you to the staff of the “Garden” Courtyards and Avalon Hospice for the care and compassion they have given Tobe and our family. A special thanks to you Wendy, April, Ashley, Tonya, and Benny.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 7 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Inskip Baptist Church, 4810 Rowan Road. Tobe’s Celebration of Life will follow at 7:00 p.m. Please meet at the entrance of Greenwood Cemetery on Wednesday May 9, 2018 at 9:45 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service.
