Robert Stanley Merritt

Robert Stanley Merritt, age 89, of Knoxville, passed away May 30, 2015. A member of Branville Baptist Church. He retired from the City of Knoxville and served in the US Navy during World War II. Preceded in death by wife of 62 years, Jewell Hickman Merritt; parents, Verlin and Lydia Merritt; brother, Verlin “Bud” Merritt; sister, Irene Burlison. Survived by sons, Basil Merritt of Knoxville, Wayne Merritt of Georgia; daughter, Jeanette Kennedy of Knoxville; sisters, Betty Newman, Vivian Prince, Louise Cornett all of Knoxville; brother, Eugene Merritt and wife Carol of Carlton, Michigan. Family and friends will gather 10:45AM Tuesday at Asbury Cemetery for 11AM interment service. Family will receive friends 6-7PM Monday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel, funeral service to follow with Rev. Charles Parker officiating.
