Robert Lynn Whitson

Robert Lynn Whitson, age 73, of Knoxville passed away on April 28, 2022 surrounded by his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, papaw and friend. He was known to everyone as “Bob the Carpetman” and earned this name by working at David’s Abbey Carpet for over 40 years. He is preceded in death by his wife Pamela Sue Whitson, son Robert Cory Whitson and his parents Robert and Jannie Whitson. He is survived by his daughter Lindsay Collins (Scott), brother James “Bud” Whitson (Reba), niece Kelly Brennan (Pat), Sister-in-law Robin Elkins (Mitch). Grandkids Jacob, Addison, and Caden Collins. Nieces Bethany Hammer, Jade Brennan, Amy Elkins and Morgan Elkins. Great nieces and nephews Mason, Isaiah, Isabella and Charlee. He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church and in lieu of flowers, you can make a donation to the Sharon Baptist Church Building Fund at 7916 Pedigo Road, Knoxville, TN 37938. Friends and family will meet at Sharon Baptist Church on Tuesday, May 3 from 5-7pm with a funeral service to follow at 7pm with Rev. Mark McCoig officiating.
