Robert Leland Covington, age 73, of Kingsport, formerly of Knoxville, went home to be with Jesus Christ on Sunday, December 18th, 2016. Roman 8: 38-39 “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the Love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Our beloved Robert was a member of Rock Heritage Baptist Church in Kingsport, Tennessee, recently retired from A.N. Webber, Inc. after many years of service, enjoyed truck driving, riding motorcycles, and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clair and Verna Poe Covington, and sister, Verna Covington Miller. He is survived by Susan Birckett, Karren Welborn, Melissa Howard, Bo Covington, Rebecca Parkinson, and very special friend’s Wayne and Martha Lamplugh and beloved dog Twinkle, his very special companion. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 21st, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Callahan Road Baptist Church, with funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Rev. Ed Shackleford will be officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1:45 p.m. for a 2:00 p.m. interment service at Woodlawn Cemetery on Thursday, December 22nd, 2016.
