Robert “Bob” E. Perry, Jr., age 69 went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ suddenly on Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021. First and foremost, he was a devout Christian and lifelong member of Sunny View Baptist Church in Powell where he sat on the front pew and played his guitar for every service. He loved the Lord.
Bob worked for Johnson and Galyon Construction Company for over 40 years, all the while working his way up from a field superintendent to a Project Manager and ultimately, Vice President of Operations where he also served on the board. Working in the construction
industry wasn’t just a career, it was a way of life and his passion. He supervised the construction of many Knoxville landmarks including the 1982 World’s Fair Sunsphere, multiple jobs at Fort Sanders Medical Center, Park West Hospital, The Tennesseean, and
most recently homes in Black Berry Farms just to mention a few. His life revolved around construction and family, especially his grandchildren.
Bob played bass guitar in various bands throughout his life from a young 17 year old playing at the Powell pool to gigs with multiple bands, to Saturday night jam sessions with “the boys” and lastly playing guitar at the same church his parents performed for decades.
He loved music and attending concerts. He followed Nascar, was a die-hard Vol Fan, a car enthusiast and enjoyed afternoon iced-tea and onion rings with his friends.
Bob never met a stranger and it seemed as if he knew someone everywhere he went. Always the life of the party and a social butterfly - Never a dull moment with Bob Perry and his contagious laugh. His wife, Linda, referred to him as a silver fox with ice blue eyes
that could make anyone smile.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 29 years Linda, his daughter Kim Thrasher (Rick) and grandchildren Alex Daniels, Addison & Zane Thrasher, Brother Jack (Jessie) Perry, sisters Judy Lewis and Jan (Brett) Cate - and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Robert & Edith Perry and a step-son, Tony Daniels.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Emerald Youth Foundation as this program was close to Bob’s heart, or to The Young-Williams Animal Center to represent his love of dogs.
The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 pm, Friday, August 6, 2021 at the Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with the funeral to be held at 7:00pm officiated by Rev. Joe Norris.
