Robert Duane Bottoms

Robert Duane (Bob) Bottoms, age 87, passed away on February 20, 2025. He was a beloved husband, father, granddad and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Bob was born on August 22, 1937 in Summertown, Tennessee. After graduating high school in 1956 he attended Tennessee Tech University earning a degree in electrical engineering. For over 30 years, he served as an electrical engineer with the Tennessee Valley Authority leaving his mark on the region’s hydroelectric power system.

In his free time, Bob enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family- coaching his children in basketball and soccer and traveling with his wife and family to beautiful places including France and Egypt. Later, he enjoyed cheering on his four grandsons in a variety of sports and musical endeavors.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Flavil and Gardie Bottoms; stepmother Veora Bottoms and siblings William Bottoms and Joy Williams. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Dorsey Bottoms; children Rebecca Bottoms of Powell and Robert (April) Bottoms; grandchildren Conner, Alex, Spencer and Cooper Bottoms of Chattanooga; sister Margaret Coker of Birmingham, Alabama and many other family, friends and neighbors.

The family will receive friends from 5:00pm -7:00pm Monday, February 24, 2025 at Mynatt Funeral Home Powell Chapel. Family and friends will meet at 10:45am Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Greenwood Cemetery for an 11:00am Graveside Service.
