Richard Muriel Wright, age 74 of Corryton, began his heavenly celebration on February 17, 2015. After graduating from Central High School in 1958, he began a career in the Navy, traveled the world and retired in 1978. While working a full-time job in construction, he attended evening school and graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee. He went on to finish his career in management with K-Mart in Wilmington, NC before finally retiring to Corryton. He was an avid supporter and leader for Girl and Boy Scouts and helped countless teenagers develop true character and a love of the outdoors. Richard actively participated at Clapps Chapel United Methodist Church where God used him to develop a men’s group that is committed to deepening their relationships with God, family, community and each other. He volunteered his time with the Corryton Food Pantry, never met a stranger and spent his life serving his Lord. Richard had a true servant’s heart! He was also a dedicated genealogist that found joy helping connect families together. Richard is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lynda Whitmire Wright, son, Robert Wright, daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Roger White, grandchildren, Eli White and Sarah White, brother Jack Wright and wife Linda, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
