Richard Joseph “Richie Joe” Huskey, 56, of Mascot, Tennessee, gained eternal life on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024. Amid family, friends and siblings in Christ his transcendence was peaceful. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on November 6th, 1967 to Richard R.Huskey and Rosetta (Umbrell) Cain. He graduated from Heritage High School in 1986. Richard went on to develop an uncanny passion for the arts. True to form, he was bold, imaginative, turbulent and strong willed. He loved writing, painting, singing, constructing, and shredding any stringed instrument available. A relentless fact seeker, he became a fervent bible scholar, his truest passion. Richard worked with Smokey Top Construction at the time of his transition and had intermittently done so for 25 years. He will be fondly missed and remembered for his versatile craftsmanship, a true artist in heart and mind. Valuing originality, Richie was happiest when having the freedom to create unbridled. In his quest to quench creative hunger he procured a well-rounded skill set. Having a generous heart, he enjoyed sharing blessings. His morning custom of lifting folks up with prayer and encouragement will be sorely missed. He leaves behind many a planted seed. He leaves waiting his devoted spouse Layla and stepson Ayden Ortiz of Mascot, TN. Richard added both strength and talent to his family tree and is survived by 5 children and 3 grandchildren. Joseph Huskey, Brooke Shae Rice (Autry), Brennan Shane Huskey (daughter Hayden), Bryant Sean Huskey (son Brantley Cash) and Blake Sheldon Huskey (son Alec). His journey in this realm produced a grafting in of his familial tree. Upon that branch he is survived by Payton Geames (children Zyler, Zaylee, Zander), Desiree Crowe (son Braxton Hill), Katie Crowe (daughter Jessie James), Elijha Roberts, Ayden Ortiz and Julia Isabella Roberts. He leaves waiting his mother Rosetta Umbrell Cain, stepdad Mark Cain, sister Kimberly (Todd) Hill, nephews Jared and Tyler, niece Sophia, sister Jennifer (Josh) Cowell and nephew Harley Pitts. Half siblings Samantha and Matthew Cain, stepmom Debra Huskey and stepbrothers Brandon and Ben Hsieh as well as several much-loved family and friends who were instrumental throughout his life. Richard is preceded in passing by his father Richard Ray “Rick” Huskey of Mascot, TN. Paternal grandparents Moses and Thelma Umbrell of Toledo, Ohio and maternal grandparents Ernest and Bobby Huskey of Knoxville, TN. We’d like to offer many humble thanks to all of those who helped him receive life extending care and support. No stone was left unturned. We are grateful for those seven years, thank you!
