Richard (Dick) Grey Wright, III, age 72, of Knoxville, Tennessee, was called to his heavenly home Saturday morning, April 22, 2017, surrounded by his children. Dick was born January 19, 1945, in Knoxville. He was a lifelong resident of Knox County. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Corryton, TN. Dick is a 1963 graduate from Fulton High School and 1967 graduate from the University of Tennessee. He served his country proudly as a U.S. Marine awarded numerous medals accompanied by citations where he served during the Vietnam era from 1968 - 1970. After his honorable discharge from the Marines, he joined the family business, Dick Wright Hardware, until his retirement as president of the company in 1999. Dick loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a loving, caring father, grandfather who was extremely proud of his children, grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. He was a good citizen, loyal friend, and a good neighbor. His presence will be deeply missed. He is preceded in death by wife, Kathy Ann Wright; parents, Richard and Katherine Wright. Left to cherish his memory are children: Richie (Susan) Wright; Jason (Karey) Wright; Samuel (Casey) Parker; and Susan (Cory) Bumgardner; sister, Judith (Denny) Griswold; brother, John (Judy) Wright. Grandchildren: Greyson and Kayelin Wright; Bennett and Shepard Wright; Samuel and Gabriel Parker; and Breanna and Tori Bumgardner. A host of nieces, nephews, extended family and many dear and special friends who he loved dearly. The family will receive friends at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel, Friday, April 28, 2017, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with celebration of Dicks life following at 7:00 p.m. Officiating will be Pastors Terrell Whitaker and Keith Buckner from Bethel Baptist, Corryton, TN.
