Rev. Arville James “AJ” Crawford, met Jesus face to face, the One who he preached about for more than 60 years, on Wednesday, March 30, 2022.
AJ was a veteran and a minister of the gospel of 60 years, which included 2 years at Hoitt Ave. Baptist Church where he was ordained, 18 years at Valley View Baptist Church, Knoxville, TN, 19 years at Ball Road Baptist Church, 21 years at Lakeview Baptist Church, Rockford, TN. He recently retired after 60 years of loyal dedication to the Ministry, and also retired from Y-12 in 1989.
A.J. Was such an outgoing person. He never met a stranger. He loved his family, missed the ones who had gone on before, and his love for the Lord led many to Christ. AJ was the happiest when he was in the pulpit preaching Gods Word.
The last few years of his life was spent at Morning Point in Powell, where it only took a few hours for them to fall in love with him. He will be missed by many. The family would like to thank the staff at Morning Point for their care of AJ.
He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Kathleen (Kat); parents, Lester and Julia Crawford; father and mother-in-law, Reed and Bessie Hester; brother, Edgar (Sarah); sister, Shirley Nelson (Hubert); daughter, Tina Renee Debusk; brother-in-law, Charles Hester (Frances); sister-in-law, Arlene Mellon (Roy).
