Rebekah Jane Bryant (nee Simpson) lost a courageous battle with cancer on November 14, 2021.
Born November 25, 1953, Rebekah was preceded in death by her father, Joe Simpson; mother, Virginia Simpson; brother, Pete Simpson; brother, Dan Simpson; aunts and uncles, Jane Evans, Malcolm Grear, Clarice Grear, and Beany Sparks; and niece Sarah Simpson.
She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, David Bryant; step-daughter, Hannah Bryant; grandson, James Gage; sister, Martha Simpson; uncle, Sam Evans; aunt, Sheila “Cookie” Thompson; nieces Emma LeCroy-Fritts, Amia Simpson, and Holly Alexander; nephews Ethan LeCroy, James Simpson, Derek Edsel, and Billy Joe Simpson; sister-in-law, Penny Simpson; sister-in-law, Debbie Simpson; and many loving cousins and friends.
Rebekah spent her career as a devoted teacher and was well-loved by her students, their parents, and her fellow teachers. She enjoyed travel with her husband, gardening, and jewelry-making.
A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, November 27, 2:00 PM at the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church, 809 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or a charity of your choice.
