Honeycutt, Ramsey Lenard (RL), born May 24, 1940, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at his home surrounded by family. He was lovingly known as “RAMBO” by his family. He made his military career in The United States Air Force retiring as Chief Master Sargent serving 31 years from 1958-1989. He served 2 tours of active duty in Vietnam as Flight Engineer on C-47 Gunships and C-7 Caribous. His love for flying was paramount in his very successful military career. Among his many prestigious honors and accolades, his most cherished was being awarded The Distinguished Flying Cross which he very proudly displayed and loved to show to family and friends, as well as numerous joint service awards. He was truly “The Rambo of the Skies”. Among his great pleasures, he loved to picnic at beautiful Cades Cove, have Sunday dinner at Shoneys with family and drive his convertible Miata. He is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth; his father, Willie Edgar; his mother, Castene; his sisters, Louise (John) Russell and Yvonne (Tom) Smith; and his brother, Curtis Ray (Carolyn) Honeycutt. He leaves to mourn his death, his brother, Jim (Dixie) Honeycutt; his sisters, Juanita (Steve) Deaver, Brenda (Tom) Moore, and Phyllis (Butch) Simpson; his fiancé, Vickie Barrett; beloved pet, Bailey; and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a private graveside service for family only with a “Celebration of Life” service to be held at a later date.
