A kind and gentle man, Prent C. Dixon, quietly slipped from this earthly world and entered his heavenly home. He never wanted to call attention to himself and thus as in life he just peacefully went to sleep on February 21, 2013. He was a man of strong character, steadfast, moral, and selfless. He was respected by many because he believed in doing the right thing. He had a sweet smile and was known for his patience and his ability to not rush into quick judgments or decisions because he took the time to listen and find out the true facts. He adored his son Daniel, loved the game of golf, and was a huge supporter of his alma mater, the “Big Orange”. He still kept up with many friends from his high school days at Knoxville East High and co-workers from his 27 years with Roadway Express, and he was currently employed by Scientific Sales in Oak Ridge. He will be missed by many and those of us who knew him best will never forget the “big man with the kind heart”. He is preceded in death by his parents, P. C. Dixon and Alice Lee Dixon; brother-in-law, John Tyrrel and niece, Amanda Tyrrel. He is survived by his son, Daniel Neil Dixon; his former wife, Anne Edmonds Dixon; sister, Donna Dixon Tyrrel; cousins, Steve (Julie) Dixon and Bob (Donna) Anderson, both of Knoxville, Rebecca Winters of Sevierville, Joy Lee (John) Naylon and Sidney (Deely) Lee of Metairie, LA; Stephen Skylar (Susan) Silvers of Knoxville. Prent was also survived by very special friend, Martha Lawson King of Maryville. Family will receive friends 5:00 - 7:00 pm Sunday with funeral service to follow at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel. Family and friends will meet 1:45 pm Monday at Shiloh Cemetery, Sevierville for 2:00 pm interment.
