Dr. Phillip W. Murphy, age 64, went to be with the Lord on January 12th, 2017. Phillip was born in Bell County, Kentucky to Hobert Murphy and the late Christine Murphy. He was a United States Navy Veteran who served in the Vietnam War and received many awards. He was owner of Murphy Mechanical and Pastor at Dante Baptist Church for 28 years. He enjoyed hunting, spending time with his family, friends, and most of all, receiving pettings from his grandbabies. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jackie Murphy, sons Phillip Murphy, Jr., and friend Frankie Wampler, and Lee Murphy, and wife Kristy Murphy, grandchildren Paige Murphy, Phillip W. Murphy, III, Isaiah Murphy, Isaac Murphy, Kylee Murphy, siblings David Murphy, and wife Kathy, Carolyn Phelps, and husband Barton, and Bobbie Stanton, and husband Bob, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, church family, and numerous friends, known and unknown. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Tennova-North for their care and compassion. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 15th, 2017 at Dante Baptist Church, 314 Brown Dr. Knoxville, TN 37918, with funeral service to follow at 6:00 p.m. Family and friends will meet at 10:15 a.m. at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel on Monday, January 16th, 2017 to travel in procession to Bookwalter Cemetery for an interment service at 11:00 a.m. Pallbearers: Larry Wise, Bob Porter, Jimmy Johnson, Richard O’Dell, Scott Tidwell, Travis Street, Tom Conaway, and Jon Wise.
