Phillip Lee Parsons – age 87 of Knoxville, TN. Phil Parsons left his loving family on Monday, August 27, 2018, now whole in mind and spirit. Born on February 7, 1931, in Nashville, TN, he attended East High School and played football for the Grey Eagles. Soon after, he joined the Air National Guard, serving during the Korean War era. Called “Pie Lee” by his parents, he was a gentleman, always stylish, appreciating the finer things of life. As sales manager for Gilson Brothers Company for decades, he traveled the Southeast selling lawn and garden equipment, working hard to “make the beans” and provide for his family. He loved babies, human and animal alike, yet remained a man’s man, King of the Road and King of the House, and spent many happy Saturdays with his Remington at the Knoxville Gun Club in the 1960s. He and his second wife, Judie Smith Parsons Conner, enjoyed adventures in Tennessee and other states, Europe, and lived several years in Wisconsin. We celebrate the force and light of our father and mourn his passing. Preceded in death by parents, Annie Louise Duke Parsons and Chester Lee Parsons. Survived by sister, Barbara Beatty; daughter, Linda Parsons and children, Elayne Pope and Rachel Travis (Robert) and grandchildren, Eleanor and Vivian Travis; son, Kevin Parsons (Shelly) and children, Bristol (Star and children, Bentley and Elijah), Summer, and Chase; daughter, Kimberly DeVoe (Gary) and children, Caitlin (Eric Pickett) and Grace (Nate Brock); son Todd Parsons (Sara) and children, Emily and Evan; and daughter, Leigh Anne Dillon, children, Trevor and Leila. Mr. Parsons will be interred at a future date in East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E. Gov. John Sevier Hwy 168, Knoxville. Online condolences for the family may be left at www.mynattfh.com
