Phil C. Brown, D.Ph, age 91, of Knoxville, passed away November 5, 2014 at home. He grew up in Powell, TN. He was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church and an US Army veteran serving during World War II. His generosity and kindness was an inspiration to anyone who knew him. He graduated from Powell High School and later Samford (Howard) University in Birmingham, AL, earning his doctorate as a pharmacist. He retired from U.T. Hospital Pharmacy. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph Cecil Brown and Della Brown. He leaves to cherish his memories wife Lois Hargis Brown, children, Jeanie Johnson and husband Don, Kendell Brown and wife Bonita, grandchildren, Brian Lane, Priscilla Jenkins and husband Jason, Michael Brown and wife Stacy, Christian Brown and wife Toni, eight great grandchildren, and sister in law Edith Hargis Shankles. Pallbearers will be Michael Brown, Christian Brown, Brian Lane, Charles “Tommy” Shankles, Rev. Willis Shankles, Dr. Calvin Hargis, Danny Shankles, Nathan Shankles, and Jake Hawkins. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to UT Hospice, 2270 Sutherland Ave, STE 101, Knoxville, TN 37919. Family and friend will meet 10:45 AM Saturday at Roseberry Cemetery for a graveside service 11 AM Saturday, Rev. Sonny Shankles officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 Friday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City.
