Pauline (Imogene) Spangler, born on December 15, 1930 in Andersonville, TN, passed away December 4, 2022. She met her husband Leon Spangler while working in downtown Knoxville, TN. They were married on October 18, 1952. She was a member of the class of 1948 Halls High School. Soon after, she was employed by Hall-Brown Clothiers on Gay Street, where she stayed for 42 years. At the age of 59, she retired to give after-school care for her great nieces and nephews, eventually caring for her grandson Brendan until he entered first grade. She found great joy in caring for all her babies. She spent many summers loving on her other three grandchildren, Brittany, Jason, and Patrick. She loved going to pageants, ballgames, graduations, and so many other events that involved her grandchildren. She loved traveling to far off places such as the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Niagara, New York, Maine, Idaho, Hilton Head, Seabrook Island, and Hawaii. All trips were taken with family. Preceded in death by loving husband Leon Spangler, son Ron Spangler, parents C. Mahoney Hughes and Mary Hughes, brother J.W. Hughes. Survived by daughter Karen Goulde (David), sister Marjorie Underwood (Lorin), daughter-in-law Sherry Spangler, grandchildren Brittany Cannon (Wade), Dr. Jason Spangler (Aubrie), Patrick Spangler (Jan), Brendan Goulde, great-grandchildren Taylor, Carson, and Abbi Reese Cannon, Paisley, Adelyn, Grady, Hudson, and Houston Spangler, special nieces and nephews Gary Underwood (Connie), Larry Underwood (Peggy), Billy Hughes (Vicki), Rhonda Chittum (Leroy), Glenda Hillard (Mike), Angie Roberson (Hubert), Donna Hughes, a host of loving great-nieces and nephews who she lovingly cared for during their after school time. Family will receive friends 5:00-7:00pm Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with service to follow, Pastor Donnie Woods officiating. Family and friends will meet 9:45am Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Fairview Freewill Baptist Church on Hinds Creek Road for a 10:00am interment. Pallbearers will be: Jason Spangler, Patrick Spangler, Brendan Goulde, Wade Cannon, Gary Underwood, Billy Hughes, Larry Underwood, and Josh Hillard.
