Paul Lester went to be with the Lord 6:00 Saturday night, February 4, 2017. He was 82 years old here and 63 years old with Christ in heavenly places. Born of the flesh October 18, 1934 and born again of the Spirit in 1952. He was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a preacher, teacher, song leader, pastor and soul winner. He was a good man and loved and cared for his wife Evelyn, family and friends deeply. His wife spent countless hours caring for him and was a faithful companion all of their life together.
His greatest desire was to witness for Christ and win souls for Him. He tried to witness to every person he came in contact with. His second love was singing the praises of Jesus. He lead singing for 45 years. Amazing Grace, The Old Rugged Cross, Because He Lives......... These are among the songs and hymns that came from his heart and soul. Equal to his love for singing was his love for the word of God, his King James Bible. He believed every word of it from Genesis to Revelation. He cherished it, lived by it, memorized it, read it, studied it, taught it and preached it. He believed in the return of Christ before his thousand year reign, and he believed in Christ coming back for his church before the seven year tribulation. He wanted to be living for the rapture, but now I'd say he's happy he didn't have to wait. He is now in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and all of the saints that have gone on before him. Welcome home my son. "Even so, come Lord Jesus."
He had Parkinson's disease the last 12 years of his life, but never stopped trying to serve the Lord. He lived a very full life serving the Lord. He loved his trips to Israel with Jerry Garner, and he loved his Monday golf outings with all of his preacher buddies and friends. He couldn't get enough of revivals and preaching services and took many trips with Jerry and Lawrence to Florida and North Carolina for services. He worked at Rohm & Haas for 33 years and had many friends there.
He and his wife Evelyn were members of Milan Baptist Church, Dutch Valley Baptist Church, then Walridge Baptist Church and then Ball Road Baptist Church, where their grandson, Morgan Lester, pastors. He went there until he was unable to attend anymore.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Horace and Rose Lester, his brother, Phillip and 3 sisters, Evelyn (Sis), Aubalee and Alice and brother-in-law, Kyle Johnson.
He is survived by Evelyn, his wife of 63 years, his sons Alex and Kreis and wife Dawn, his grandchildren Courtney Haggard and husband Steve, Morgan Lester and wife Sara and Chris Human, great grandchildren Maddy, Caitlin, Nate, Lily and Anna Kreistine, his sisters Winona Lester and Bernice Johnson and sisters-in-law Emmerdell Lester and Jackie Fawver and many nieces and nephews and many brothers and sisters in Christ.
We will miss him, but we are so happy that he is now in the presence of his Savior. See you soon.
