Patricia Cornelius

Patricia Cornelius, 85, a long-time resident of Fairfield Glade, died peacefully on April 23, 2021 at UT Medical Center surrounded by her family and her beloved pet cat, Jade Junior (JJ). Patricia was born in 1935 in Hope, AK to Maxine and Robert. A gifted student, she graduated early from high school to attend college in Colorado Springs with the goal of becoming a registered nurse. After graduation, Pattye had a successful career as a lead surgical nurse for many years before retiring and eventually moving to the Glade. Pattye was happily married to Richard Cornelius, the love of her life, for 49 years until his death in 2006. She is also preceded in death by one son, Timothy Cornelius, of Bellingham, WA. Patricia is survived by one daughter, Terresa Stark, one sister, Sylvia Cox, three grandchildren, Leiya Cassady, Chris Cornelius and Eric Cornelius and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Patricia was a rare, graceful soul with an artist's eye and a warrior's spirit who brightened the lives of everyone who knew her. A fiercely independent woman, she kept a lovely home decorated with Southwest-inspired art, including many pieces that were her own original works. She was an avid golfer and an accomplished bridge player with a vibrant social life and loved hosting and attending bridge parties. She never hesitated to help friends or family and her kindness, her charm and her quick wit will be greatly missed by all. Memorial services are being scheduled and will be announced at a later date.
