Our beautiful mother, passed into Heaven the morning of December 9th, following a 16-month battle with colon cancer. She was a Christian, a member of Olivet Baptist Church and prior to her illness, attended Faithway Baptist Church. She and her husband owned and operated, Hobby's Body Shop, which they opened in 1964. She was generous and loving to her family. Our mother was courageous and determined both in everyday life and as she withstood the ravaging effects of cancer treatment. She had many skills and was an amazing cook - everyone thought so. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Hobby Sr., beloved parents, Thomas and Flora Mae Brewer, brother, Clarence Wilhite, granddaughter, Rachael Wortley and son-in-law, Ernest Walthers. She is survived by children Kathy Hobby, Donald Hobby, Jr. (Deborah), Tim Hobby (Cathy), Kim Hobby, Rebecca Hawkins (Rob), Brenda Walthers Powell (Tony) sister, Joyce (Pete) and brother, Lloyd (Debbie). Grandchildren: Candis, Melissa, Chelsey, TJ, Zac, Tori, Michael and Hannah, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous extended family. We wish to thank Dr. Wahid Hanna and his entire team at Hanna Cancer Associates, everyone whom my mother encountered at UT Medical Center, and Smoky Mountain Hospice, who provided exceptional care to our mother during the last days of her life. Family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 pm, Sunday, December 12th, 2021, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel, immediately followed by the funeral service, conducted by Rev. Jack Evans. Family and friends will meet 10:45am Monday, December 13th, 2021, at Eastview Memorial Gardens, Andrew Johnson Highway, for an 11:00am interment.
