In Loving Memory
Oscar Nipper, beloved Grandfather, and father, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at the age of 85. He was surrounded by his loved ones at the University of Tennessee Hospital, finding solace in the embrace of family and friends.
Oscar lived a life marked by his many years of truck driving and was enormously proud of his perfect driving record and his time spent in the national guard. He approached each day with resilience, inspiring those around him with his unwavering generosity and humor.
Born on 11/12/1938 in Knoxville, Tennessee, Oscar was the son of James Henry Nipper and Elizabeth Ivalee Nipper. He grew up in Knoxville, where he met and married Peggy Lou Byrd at 17 and discovered his courage to join the Army National Guard shortly after. He later married Donna Sue Lenz and spent the rest of her life by her side. He approached each milestone with determination and grace, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Throughout his life, Oscar touched the hearts of many with his fun nature and his willingness to help others. He will be remembered for loving the outdoors and helping friends and family members with anything they needed.
Oscar is preceded in death by Father James Henry Nipper, Mother, Elizabeth Ivalee Nipper, Brothers, Milligan Nipper(Wilma), Robert Lee Nipper(Tootsie), J.D. Nipper(Barbara), Ronnie Nipper(Ruth), and Sisters, Maxine Williams(Jimmy), and Patsy Tipton(Eddie) and Wife Donna Sue Nipper and Step Daughter Shonda Jones and is survived by Daughters, Angela Jefferies and Cindy P’Simer, Sister Bernice Haun(Edger) and Brother Perry Nipper(Mary) and Step Children Tammy Weaver (Joey), Candy Maples, and Timmy Lenz and many grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews who will continue to cherish his memory and honor his legacy.
He will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those he touched. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
A call at convenience will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 10:00AM-5:00PM at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel, where friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of Oscar and pay their respects.
Family and friends will meet at 10:35AM on Friday, April 26, 2024 at Greenwood Cemetery for an 11:00AM graveside service with military honors provided by Tri County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Mynatt Funeral Home to help cover funeral expenses.
