Oren H. Myers, age 97, of Knoxville, TN passed away on Monday, October 2nd, 2017. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. during World War II as a long-range radar operator and a morse code instructor. He graduated from the University of Tennessee and worked in health physics, seismology, and human development at Union Carbide of Oak Ridge until he later retired. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, coin collecting, HAM radio operating and spending time with family. He is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, June McBee Myers, brothers Dr. W.M. Myers Jr. (Cupie) and J.B. Myers, sisters Inez Treadwell (Louis), Helen Whited (Kyle), and Bonnie Noe (Bob), Brother-in-laws Max Merritt, Joe L. Davis Jr., and Jack Kneier. He is survived by daughters Janice George (Dr.Thomas George) and Sandra Myers, Grandchildren Dr. Courtney George (Dr. Wade Millam), Ryan George (April), Kelly McMorrough, Shannon Daniel, 8 great grandchildren, Brothers Jack Myers, Doug Myers (Linda), sisters Pat Davis, Annette Merritt, Juanita Kneier, and sister-in-law Margaret Myers, and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at their convenience Tuesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel beginning at 10:00 a.m. Private family graveside will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Cemetery.
