Olen "O.T." Wood, Sr.

Olen “O.T.” Trent Wood, Sr., age 96, of Fountain City, TN, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 27th, 2017. He was born March 30th, 1921 to the late Bruce and Ada York Wood. He was a long standing and faithful member of Temple Baptist Church, was a United States Army Veteran who served during World War II, and was honored to travel to Washington D.C., with his son Chip, and numerous other proud veterans on the Honor Air Flight in 2012. He retired from Miller’s Department Store as a Master Upholster after more than 25 years of service, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and most of all, loved spending time with his family. He was a dedicated husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was much loved and will be greatly missed by all. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 wonderful years Joan Wood, his precious grandson Brian Wood, and siblings Geneva, Blanche, Dorothy, Mable, Jim, Walt and Everett. He is survived by children Chip Wood, wife Noreen, and Jannice Wood Burke, husband Pat Burke, grandchildren Jesse Wood, wife Karen, Matthew Wood, Rebekah Wood Lankford, husband Jerry, great-grandchildren Chloe, Ariel, Scott, and Addie, many nieces, nephews, family and friends who he loved very much. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 30th, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel, with funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Brother Dave Rosser, Pastor Clarence Sexton, and grandson Jesse Wood will be officiating. Interment services will immediately follow at Greenwood Cemetery, where Mr. Wood will receive military honors.
