Oakie Roy Triplett

Oakie Roy Triplett passed away peacefully after a prolonged illness on Sunday, February 27. In his youth Oakie served in the U.S. Army in Germany. He was a valued long-time employee of Pay Cash Grocery Company before starting his own successful family business, Oakie’s Sign Enterprises and Design. As a charter member of Christ United Methodist Church in Halls, Oakie was instrumental in establishing and building the church. He served faithfully over the years on the Administrative Board, Staff/Parish Relations Committee, Building Committee, as an officer in the United Methodist Men, and many other roles. He taught a number of Disciple Bible Studies and was a long-time member of the Adult Bible Study Sunday School class where he had many friends. Oakie married the love of his life, Carolyn, in 1971 who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Mable and Buford Snyder, and his sister Linda Snyder Douglas. He is survived by his brother Danny (Jamie) Snyder; his daughters Donna (Michael) Shipley of Anderson County; Robbie (Robert) Wippich of Durham, NC; and Kathy (Allen) Thiel of Laguna Niguel, CA. He was the beloved grandfather and great grandfather to Patrick Huskey of Atlanta, GA, his daughter Sydney Jeanette and Norah Evelyn, and their mother Stephanie Allen Huskey of Edwardsville, IL; Wesley ‘Bubba’ Huskey of Halls; Melaney (David) Chavez of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; Cyndi Thiel (Adam Rodriguez) of Sacramento, CA; Alleson (Jeff) Pallota of Valley Village, CA and their son Finley; Rachel Shipley of Anderson County and her son Benjamin. He had numerous nieces and nephews who all loved their Uncle Ouie. The family wish to acknowledge the friendship and loving care provided to Oakie by close friend Mary Ann Prueitt and the memory care staff at The Pointe at Lifespring in Knoxville. A Celebration of Life service will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the ministries of Christ United Methodist Church in Halls.
