Norma Jean Watson, 84 years of age, passed away peacefully in Knoxville, Tennessee on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. She was born March 24, 1938 to her loving parents, Marshall O. and Blanche E. Holbert.
Norma graduated from Halls High School before spending her 40-plus-year career in the administrative office of National Linen Service. She lived her entire live in Knoxville and treasured living close to her family. Norma was a member of Salem Baptist Church for most of her life.
Norma always had a giving spirit and loved doing things for her family. Later in life, she enjoyed running around and watching Tennessee sports on TV with her sister, Dollywood trips, exercise classes at the Y, sleepovers with her granddaughters, traveling, playing games, eating out with her best friend from high school, LaVetta Hanlein, and enjoying time with other friends.
Norma is survived by her son, H. Douglas Kitts and his wife Tracy D. Kitts; her granddaughters Kayla M. Kitts and Emily N. Kitts and their spouses Johnnie L. Perry and J. Clint Shannon and her great grandson, Malcom D. Perry; sister, Virginia E. Smith and brother, Doyle O. Holbert; niece Donna S. Brock and nephew Kevin Holbert; and many friends.
Norma, forever known as Gran, will be remembered for her limitless love for family, her sense of humor, and her deviled eggs.
Graveside service for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, October 4th at 11:00 am at Lynnhurst Cemetery, 2300 Adair Drive, Knoxville, TN 37918. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to local Alzheimer’s organizations: Alzheimer’s Association Eastern Tennessee or Alzheimer’s Tennessee-East Tennessee Office.
