“Oh I will sing of the Goodness of God!”

Kathy made her way to Glory on Wednesday March 26, 2025. She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph Neely and Geraldine Carey, brother Norman Neely, and nephew “Little” Kenny Gumke, special cousins Beverly Grisetti and Kim Thomas. She leaves behind her loving and wonderful husband, Earl Long Jr., sister Vanessa Gumke(Curtis),bonus brothers Kenny Gumke and Bill Long(Lisa). Children; Aileen Hunter, Jason Watts, Joseph Watts(Ashley), and Amber Stewart(Chris), Bonus children; Wes Long(Sara), Bryan Wolfe(Stephanie), Amanda Smith(Jason), Jami Hern(Scott), Jeremy Long, 18 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren(one on the way), several special nieces and nephews. Kathy was a decades-long member of Northshore Baptist Church, under Rev. James A. Pellom. She spent the last decade as a faithful member of New Beginning Baptist Church, under Pastor Dr. David Knight and was affectionately known as “Momma Kathy” by all. Kathy retired in 2015 from the University of Tennessee and spent her time as a diligent wife, mother and grandmother. Kathy’s “Going Home Service” will be held Friday April 4, 2025 at New Beginning Baptist Church, 11218 Yarnell Road Knoxville, TN 37932. The family will receive friends and family from 5-7pm with service to follow. Pastor Dr. David Knight will be officiating.
