Nemar Craft, age 73 of Knoxville, passed away peacefully with family and friends by his side on Monday, October 21, 2013. Born July 24, 1940 to Ivory and Maxine Craft in Hazard, Kentucky. Nemar was a member of Halls Christian Church. Nemar was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He grew up with eight brothers in a very humble country setting in Hazard. His education began in a one-room school (grades 1-12) in Hazard. After high school, he joined the US Army. When he returned from service, Nemar worked, attended and graduated from Southeast Community College, Appalachian Regional Hospital’s School of Professional Nursing and Appalachian Regional Hospital’s School of Anesthesia For Nurses. After graduation, he was a professor at the Appalachian School of Anesthesia before moving to Knoxville in 1978. Nemar was employed as a nurse anesthesist at Regional Ft. Sanders Medical Center and retired after 33 years. He instilled a strong faith in God and love for his family. Nemar was an avid golfer and competitive shooter. He enjoyed traveling with his family, four wheeling, boating, hiking and skiing. Preceded in death by parents, Ivory and Maxine Craft; brothers, Wendell, Edward and Noah Craft. Survived by wife of 25 years, Connie Craft; daughters, Courtney and Dawn Craft; sons, Michael and Greg Craft; grandchildren, Michelle, Josh, and Daniel; great-grandchildren, Brayden and Olivia; brothers, Bennie, Victor, and Johnny of Kentucky, Bert of Indiana, and Ramsy of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Our deepest thanks and sincerest gratitude go out to our family, friends, church, Dr. Richard Grapski, Thompson Cancer Center, and all the wonderful staff on 8N. We could not have traveled this road without you. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Halls Christian Church Missions Fund, 4805 Fort Sumter Rd, Knoxville, TN 37938, 865-922-4110. Funeral service 7:00pm Thursday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with Rev. Larry Woods and Rev. Walter Hill officiating. Pallbearers will be Michael Craft, Greg Craft, Ramsy Craft, Scott Moore, Brandon Heck, Mike Tinker, Doug Slater and Michael Cronin. Family and friends will meet at 10:30am Friday at the funeral home and proceed to Greenwood Cemetery for 11:00am interment. Family will receive friends 5-7pm Thursday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel.
