Nellie Katherine Mouron

Nellie Katherine Mouron, 90, of Knoxville, TN, passed away October 6, 2024. She was born on February 15, 1934 to the late D.F. and Pansy Mae (Willings) Large in Knoxville.

Katherine loved her family and supported them in any way possible, which included being available for phone calls and visits, day or night. She delighted herself in being the matriarch of the family in raising 4 beloved children. She also took great pride in raising and caring for one of her children, who was mentally handicapped, for 48 years. Nellie loved the Lord and attended Nance’s Grove Baptist Church for many years. Due to being a military spouse, she did lots of traveling overseas, but particularly enjoyed her time in Florida. 

She will be missed by her loving family, and remembered for her caring spirit and loving disposition.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, D.F. and Pansy Mae Large; first husband, Alven Sheppard; second husband, Louis Mouron; daughters, Rebecca Sheppard and Kathy R. Trentham; and a sister, Patsy Hammer. 

She is survived by her son, Carl Sheppard; daughter, Cheryl Brooks; sister, Louise; and grandchildren, Damien and Danielle Masse.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 12-1pm at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel. A graveside service will commence at 1:30pm at Anderson-Gouffon Cemetery, 5116 Tazewell Pike, Knoxville, where Katherine will be laid to rest beside her late husband.
