Naomi Mintha Farmer is now celebrating as Jesus called her to her heavenly home on December 3, 2024. Surrounded by her loving family, she left her 101 year old earthly body that would not allow her to walk and now she is strolling the streets of gold. Naomi was a Christian and a Godly woman who believed in, loved and trusted her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a member of North Acres Baptist Church for many years. Even in her last days she would ask if it was Sunday because she wanted to attend church. When she could no longer attend, she would listen to the service on the internet.
For many years she volunteered in Ritta Community helping young people in 4-H, swimming lessons, coaching baseball, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was an excellent baker, gardener and she participated for many years as a judge for baking and canning at the Tennessee Valley Fair, other community fairs, as well as the local Ritta fair. She worked for Knox County Government at UT hospital for 15 years then retired to take care of her grandchildren.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was the center of her life. Her happiest moments were spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her extended family and her church family. She left a legacy of kindness, strength and unconditional love. She strived for her life to be a light for Jesus. She was a great prayer warrior for her family and friends which will be greatly missed. She will forever live in our memories that our family has created and our hearts will always cherish her unconditional love that she shared and gave to us.
She is survived by her sister, Bobbie Ann Underwood; son: Bert Farmer, Jr (Jackie); daughters: Patricia Buntrock (Tom); Phyllis Diane Shnider (Bob); Kathy King (Pete); and Angie Hobby (Mike). She was blessed with 21 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren: Josh Farmer (Kyle); Kim (Jason) Weaver (Brody, Madison, and Mason); Richie (Susan) Wright (Greyson and Kayelin); Brooke (Richie) Brown (Klint and Maddie); Jason (Karey) Wright (Bennett and Shepard); Matthew (Ashley) Buntrock (Knox and Kloe); Amanda (Billy) Espiritu (Lexa, MaKynli, and Miliana); Britani (Tracy) Johnson (McKaylee and Logan); Brandon and Jayden Hobby, Gail Mathews, Beth McGivney (Jacob, Lucas, Cavan and Jack); John (Nicole) King (Grey and Cole), and a host of her loving nieces, nephews, cousins, many special friends, and her Church family.
She is preceded in Death by her husband of 66 years, Bert A. Farmer Sr., father and mother Reverend Fred Walter and Sophia Orlena Ownby, 8 sisters and 2 brothers.
