Nannie Virginia House Griffin, age 99 of Powell, Tennessee, passed away December 8, 2021. She was a faithful member of Redemption Harvest Church in Halls. She loved Jesus and the Cross with all her heart. She loved her family, her pastor and church family and all her many friends. She enjoyed crocheting afghans and giving them away to those she loved. She loved painting, working crossword puzzles, playing Skipbo and Dominoes. Nannie worked very hard for many years on the family farm. Now she is at rest with Jesus, the one she has been longing for. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Worley James Griffin, Sr., son Worley James Griffin, Jr. “Jim”, parents Jacob and Geneva House, sisters Juanita Everhart (Cy), Norma McGowan (Bill), Berwyn House, brothers Bruce and Don House and grandson, Tony Griffin. Nannie is survived by her children and spouses Nellie Davis, Salley and Doyle Kitts, Linda and Terry Bray, Melvin and Donna Griffin and loving daughter-in-law, Joan Griffin. She is also survived by a precious sister, June Gelwicks of Hagerstown, Maryland and several nieces and nephews. She also had many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren that she loved and cherished. The family will receive friends Friday, December 17th from 5:00-7:00 pm at Redemption Harvest Church, 7824 Old Maynardville Pike, Knoxville (Halls area) with the funeral to follow at 7:00 pm with Reverend Jody Darden officiating. (Nannie picked her own songs to be sung.) Family and friends will meet at 12:00 pm, Saturday, December 18th at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel to proceed to Sherwood Memorial Gardens on Alcoa Highway for a 1:00 pm interment service with Don and Jeff O'Dell, Derek and Jim Walker, Cody McCroskey and Jeron Rigney serving as pallbearers.
