In loving memory of Nancy Major Cox, a beautiful soul who left peacefully on February 2, 2024, at the age of 73 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Nancy was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, known for her love of all things sparkly and pretty.
As an active member of her church and community, Nancy danced and sang her way through life with grace and strength. A graduate of Central High School's class of 1968, she was a talented dancer, majorette, singer, and even dabbled in acting. Her 46-year career at AT&T showcased her dedication and strong work ethic and drive to succeed.
Nancy's unwavering faith in God was an inspiration to all who knew her. She had a passion for fitness, dancing, and spending time with her friends and family. Her talents were many, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Preceded in death by her parents, Annie and Earl S. Major, Nancy is survived by her daughter, Natalie Sturman, son-in-law Greg Sturman, sister Marcia Major Brackfield, grandchildren Blake and Reese Sturman, and cousins Sue and Buddy Rogers as well as many dear friends.
The family wishes to acknowledge the compassionate care provided by the nurses and staff at Tennova North Hospital, Tennova Hospice, and Tennessee Cancer Specialists. In accordance with her wishes, Nancy was cremated, and a funeral, memorial, or celebration of life will not be held.
Instead, the family invites you to honor her memory by celebrating her life in the way she would have wanted – dancing, singing, working out, shopping, and having fun. Above all, they ask that you remember to praise God.
The family also requests that donations be made to a charity or church of your choice in loving memory of Nancy Major Cox.
Rest in peace, dear Mom, Grammy, Sister and Friend. You will forever remain in our hearts and memories as we cherish the beautiful moments we shared with you.
"Though you have danced your way to the Eternal Home,
Your memory still shines like a glittering globe.
In our hearts, you'll forever be,
A beloved mom, grammy, sister, and friend you'll always be.
Your spirit lives on in each and every heart,
As we remember the love that set you apart.
In the dance of life, your steps we'll retrace,
And in the memories we share, you'll have a special place.
So dance on, dear Nancy, in the heavenly sphere,
Your spirit and love are forever near.
And when we think of you, we'll smile and know,
That in our hearts, you'll forever glow."
