Myrtle Leslie

Myrtle Mary (Langley) Leslie January 4, 1926 – August 17, 2016 Age: 90, (8 months) formerly of Powell, TN passed away peacefully at her son’s residence in Ypsilanti, Michigan where she has resided for the past 2 ½ years. She is the loving mother of Roy L. Powell (Charlotte) Soddy Daisy TN, John A Powell (Betty d. 2012) Roebuck, SC. and Danny L. Leslie (Alyse) Ypsilanti, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Leslie Jr. in 1984 and a granddaughter Jeanyne Leslie Randall of Ypsilanti in 2014. Myrtle was born in Union County TN to Grover Cleveland and Etta Leora (Loy) Langley: she was one of 12 children, surviving sisters, include Rushia Remmenga and Nancy (Tillman) McCarter. In addition to her children she is survived by nine grandchildren: Janet (Daniel) Francisico, Jeffrey (Kimberly) Powell, Stephanie, Dennis and Mark Powell, Rebecca (Danny) Sorrells, Susan Powell Rice, Jeanyne (d) Brian Randall and Deanne (Michael) Kasperek, 19 great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Myrtle loved to travel and was active with her senior citizen’s group until she moved to Ypsilanti Michigan in 2014. Myrtle was known as the family historian through her family genealogy research. Friends and family will meet at 10:00am Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel, Knoxville TN to follow in procession to New Loyston Cemetery, Maynardville for an 11:00am Graveside service.
