Montgomery Jackson Kennedy, Jr., “Jack”, a beloved husband, father, and Pappaw, peacefully passed away on July 12, 2023. He was born on October 31, 1924.
He served in the United States Navy from 1943-1947 and is a proud, decorated World War II veteran that served in the Pacific theatre. He was a loyal and dedicated employee at Robertshaw Fulton in Knoxville as a Machinist journeyman, Tool and Dye maker and supervised and trained over 40 people. He was a 50 year master member of Cherokee Lodge 728 in Bearden. He dearly loved fishing and Tennessee Football.
Jack married Ruby Frittz Kennedy in 1947. Their children, Montgomery Jackson Kennedy III and Candy Kennedy were born in Knoxville. He is predeceased by his parents, Montgomery Jackson Kennedy Sr. and Clara Watson Kennedy and eight brothers and sisters, Sarah, Dot, Leonard, Joe, Jean, Pat, Dan, and Sam, whom he loved dearly.
Jack found love once again and married Betty Kidwell in 1987. They relocated to Louisville, TN near their family with Sharon Harvey, Diane Brown, Daryl Llewellyn, and grandchildren Michelle, Derek, Chase, and Alexis and several great-grandchildren.
Jack, also known as Pappaw, leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his loving spouse, Betty Kidwell Kennedy, son Jack and Mary Kennedy, daughter Candy Kennedy Swift and Bob Swift and grandchildren, Melody Kennedy, Jeremy and Sharron Messer, and Tim and Dr. Julie Messer Raper.
Our family would like to send much love to Daryl Llewellyn and Sharon and Dennis Harvey for their devoted and constant love and care during the last four years. Their love for our father, Jack Kennedy, and his love for them will remain forever in all of our hearts. He would not have lived to be 99 years old without them.
Jack Kennedy, Pappaw, will forever be remembered for his warm heart, unwavering love for his family, and his big smile and positive attitude. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire us all.
Family and friends will meet on Saturday July 22nd, 2023 at New Gray Cemetery at 10:45am for an 11:00am graveside service, officiated by Rev. Michael Vineyard.
