Mildred "Millie" Bledsoe Norris

Mildred “Millie” Bledsoe Vandergriff Norris 88, passed away on March
22, 2023. Millie was a 1953 graduate of Halls High and was named “Best
All Around Student” her senior year. As a member of the marching band,
she played the saxophone and was a majorette her senior year. Always
heavily involved in the community, Millie could often be found serving
others through the Halls High Alumni Association, Halls Food Pantry,
Mobile Meals and Salem Baptist Church's “Young at Hearts”. In 2006,
the Halls Business and Professional Association honored her as their
Woman of the Year. As a lifetime charter member of the Halls
Crossroads Women’s League, she was named Volunteer of the Year in
2008, for working in the Clothes Closet. In 2018, she was inducted
into the Halls High Alumni Hall of Fame and has been involved in other events
that have poured support back into the community. More recently,
Millie served on the new Halls Crossroads Historical Museum Board.
This project was dear to her heart because of her love for “Halls
History”. She is preceded in death by husband, Edsel “Ed” Norris,
parents, Page and Birdie Bledsoe and son Mike Vandergriff. Millie is
survived by Greg (Susan), Doug (Cathy), and Chris (Theresa)
Vandergriff, daughter-in-law Connie Vandergriff and step-son Gregory Norris.
Millie was the proud Mamaw of 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. A
memorial service will be held 4:00 pm at Christ United Methodist
Church on Sunday, April 2, 2023. Millie was an avid quilter who made
many beautiful creations for family and friends. The family encourages
anyone that would like to display one of Millie's quilts, to bring it
for inclusion in the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked
that donations be made to Halls Crossroads Historical Museum Fund, P.O. Box 71043,
Knoxville, TN 37938. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mynattfh.com
