Mink, Mildred McGuinness - age 89, passed away on Tuesday November 25, 2014. Mildred was born February 15, 1925 to the Rev. J.L. and Helen Crigger McGuinness. After graduating from Knoxville High School in 1942, Mildred went to work for The White Stores as a payroll clerk and eventually became an officer and corporate treasurer. When the grocery chain was sold in 1989, Mildred continued to work as accountant and corporate treasurer of White Realty & Service Corp. until her retirement in 2011. She had a long and wonderful career and she truly loved her job. During her career she served on the board of the Better Business Bureau for 18 years. She faithfully served as pianist for West Haven Baptist Church for over 30 years. Always having a heart for missions, she embarked on her first international mission trip at the age of 71 and for many years turned her vacations into short term mission trips. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter Kathy Mink Wolbach. Left to continue her legacy are three children, Charles "Sonny" Mink (Pat), Ginger Mink Teague (Tim) and David Mink (Becky); seven grandchildren, Robert Wolbach (Jennifer), Sonya Mink Hatcher (Jim), Kevin Wolbach, Krista Mink Warwick, Lindsay Teague Mizell (Daniel), Drew Teague (Molly) and Kendra Mink Keaton (Matt), nine Great Grandchildren Whittney Wolbach Hurst (Rob), Kyle Warwick, Brandon Hatcher, Allison Hatcher, Parker Warwick, Dawson Warwick, Campbell Mizell, Graham Mizell and Huck Mizell; and two Great-great Grandchildren Emma Hurst and Braelynn Foster. A quote from the book she wrote in 2009 – “Christ has always exceeded my expectations of Him, when I think about heaven I know I will not be disappointed”. Close friends and family will gather for a graveside service at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 29th at Greenwood Cemetery, 3500 Tazewell Pike, Knoxville, TN 37918. A celebration of Mildred’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 30th in the Chapel at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church, 9132 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37923. A receiving of friends will follow. Mildred loved Young Life and how genuinely Jesus was shared with high school kids at its many clubs and camps around the country.
