Michele Burnette age 60, of Knoxville, passed away Friday, February 14, 2025. She was born on April 15, 1964, to the late Billy and Mary Sue Hoskins. She was saved and baptized at a young age in a small Pentecostal church in Bell County, KY. Born and raised in Bell County, KY., if you saw her father, Billy you most likely saw Michele by his side. Together the two loved to share stories, and he was truly the apple to her eye. She was a graduate of Bell County High School C/O 1982, where she was the class Salutatorian. In addition to being a salutatorian, Michele was a cheerleader and track athlete. She went on to graduate at the top of her 1987 class from Lincoln Memorial University, where she earned a degree in Medical Technology. She and Jerry loved to snow ski traveling to destinations from the Colorado Rockies, to the Grand Tetons, and Sierra Nevada Mountains. Michele also went on to get her Commercial Pilots License and became a Certified Flight Instructor. More than anything Michele loved her family, and she was an amazing friend, always having a giving and caring heart for those she loved.
Michele was also preceded in death by several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Jerry Burnette, brothers: David (Michelle) Hoskins and Kevin (Mary Linda Petrey); sister, Lora (Keith) May, special friend and sister-in law, Terri Burnette and brother-in-law, Tommy Burnette, and sister-in-law, Julie Burnette; nieces and nephews: Joel Hoskins, Erin Hoskins, William May, Matthew May, Brent Burnette, Ellie Burnette and Anna Kirkpatrick; great-nephews, Houston McQuerry and Luke Burnette, several aunt and uncles, and many cousins. Family and friends will meet Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel and travel in procession to Greenwood Cemetery for a 3:00 pm graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Young Williams Animal Shelter at https://www.young-williams.org/support/one-time/.
