Matthew Thomas Diesing, age 47 of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2024 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center after a courageous 14 month battle with pancreatic cancer. Matthew was a loving husband, father, son, brother and uncle and loved his family very much. He served in the United States Marine Corps for 7 years and was stationed at Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti, Africa. After serving, he came back home and worked at ORNL as a fireman for 22 years.
Matthew is survived by his Wife of 23 years, Christina "Christie" Coile Diesing; Daughter, Alexis Diesing; Sons, John Thomas and Brody Diesing; Parents, Bill and Dorothy Diesing; Sisters, Christine Rogers, Carolyn Weinbaum and Cathleen Diesing; Brother, Mark Diesing; Several Uncles, Aunts, Nieces and Nephews. He is also survived by his special Firefighter Brothers and Sisters.
Matthew's funeral service will be held Friday, June 7, 2024 at 7:00pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Powell Chapel with Rev. Tony Gomillion officiating. The family will be receiving friends prior to the service from 5:00pm - 7:00pm at Mynatt Funeral Home in Powell, TN. Due to scheduling conflicts with the cemetery, family and friends will meet on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 7:15am at Mynatt Funeral Home Powell Chapel and go in procession to East Tennessee State Veteran's Cemetery for an 8:30am interment service with full Military honors. If you wish not to participate in the rolling procession, you may meet at the cemetery at 8:30am.
