Mary Campbell stepped peacefully into the next life on Friday evening, freed from the bonds that had held her mind and body these past few years. Her long and productive life of 94 years can now be celebrated in Heaven and on Earth. She was preceded in death by her husband Archie Campbell, parents Moss & Lucille Lewis, brother Gene Lewis and sisters Louise Bayless and Mildred Lewis. She was a faithful member of the congregation her grandfather, Thomas Karns, helped to establish at Glenwood Baptist Church in Powell. She was dedicated to her late husband, Archie, their two sons, Steve and Phillip, the Bayless kids, Bobby Joe, Imogene, Carolyn, and Jimmy, whom she always thought of as “her’s”, and close friends she cherished so much in Powell and Knoxville. She was a gentle soul who loved, and was loved by all who knew her. Mary is survived by her son Stephen in Nashville and his wife Alie, who was with mom as she crossed over, son Phillip, of Powell, nieces Imogene Campbell, Carolyn Arnold, Sarah Brewer, and nephew Jim Bayless, granddaughter Christy Wingo, grandson Chase Campbell of Wake Forest, NC, and great-grandson Tucker. Special thanks to Imogene and Beverly Campbell for all their loving care and help during those very difficult times, and to mom’s special friend and caregiver, “Sissy”, and all the other special ladies from Tender Hearts who helped so graciously during her illness and to the staff and support team at Southern Care Assisted Living in Franklin, Tn. Ole Arch and Pudge are together again and will wait for us to join them there. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 PM Tuesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel. Family and friends will meet at 3:30 PM Tuesday at Glenwood Cemetery for a 3:45 graveside service with Rev. Perry Austin officiating.
